To start things off, it has been a while... Since my last blog post I have made some big changes, predominantly where I live. I moved to the Gold Coast in March and I don't have any plans on leaving anytime soon. I actually drafted a post on the 25th of April which explains how all of this came about but for some reason I didn't publish it so if you are interested in the background story, click here.
So what has been happening the past couple of months?
In terms of training, I have been training the most consistently and building up some of the biggest kms I have for a long, long time. Since working with Craig, I feel like I have been training a lot smarter and have found some sessions that I believe are highly beneficial to me personally. With more of a focus on longer distance triathlon in the future, I am occasionally on a different program to the some of the other Bond Uni athletes but the squad environment remains beneficial and I am surrounded by some good friends and training partners.
I am also really excited to have joined the True Protein team. I have been using their product for about 8 months now and find it supports my daily training really well. If you want to try some of their products check out www.trueprotein.com.au and use the code GRACE at checkout to have a little sneaky $$$ saving.
Outside of triathlon, I spend a lot of time with old friends who live here as well as some new people who make life that much more fun. I have a great crew I work with at Miami Aquatic Centre, my local cafe friends, my housemates and if you follow me on social media, you have probably seen 'Little Gracie' who is the most entertaining human being and part of my 'Gold Coast family'. I am always meeting new people and I have really been making an effort to find a training/life balance.
I think Professional Development might be the right term for what else has been going on. The past month I have been working towards my Triathlon Australia Development Coach certification and thinking about building my own little online coaching brand. Leading up to Gold Coast World Champs last year, I wrote my Mum a program to follow and I found focusing on someone else's goals really enjoyable (she also won which made it even better) which has been the driving force behind me wanting to do this. I'm slowly working on the branding side of things but hopefully very soon I can have a handful of people who I can pass any knowledge and experience I have in the sport on and help them achieve some personal goals.
In my personal life, I have been back to see my family once since I moved here and I was able to see my Grandma on her birthday for the first time in a very long time as well as see my eldest brother Thomas marry his fiancé Jess. I also turned 27 but we can skip past that milestone.
So, it's safe to say things have been going well and winter on the Gold Coast is not bad at all!
Like anyone I have had some ups and downs since moving but I have a network around me who always back me and want to help. Most notably my parents but also Graham Marcolin from McDonalds Sutton Forest, my favourite Italian Sabino from Dedacciai bikes and the team at Zealous Swim. I can't thank these people enough!
Moving forward, I am planning to start racing VERY soon and I am excited about it!
- Airlie Beach Triathlon
- Nepean Triathlon
- Noosa Triathlon
+ a few local events and maybe something a little longer as long as things go to plan.
I'll also be better at keeping any one who is interested in the loop ;)
